Meet Joy, the compassionate force behind Godley Family Medicine. As the founder, Joy champions a vision of health that transcends mere absence of disease, embracing instead a holistic state of physical, mental, and social wellness. Joy uses a combination of functional and traditional practices with the understanding that each patient is an individual with various needs and goals.
Raised in Godley, Joy is deeply rooted in the community, having graduated from Godley High School and cultivated her nursing career within its bounds. Beginning as an LVN, she steadily progressed to become a Registered Nurse, dedicating years to the demanding environment of the Emergency Room. Driven by her unwavering dedication to healthcare, Joy attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2010. She furthered her education by earning a Master of Science in Nursing through Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in 2014.
Driven by a desire to provide personalized care, Joy has traversed various realms of healthcare, from Family Practice to House Calls, Urgent Care, Conscierge, and Emergency Room. However, it was her return to Godley, coupled with the realization of the growing community's need for accessible healthcare, that sparked the creation of Godley Family Medicine in 2018, in collaboration with Dr. Victor Burgos.
At Godley Family Medicine, Joy fosters an environment of respect, compassion, and individualized attention for every patient. With a commitment to serving her hometown and its growth, she takes pride in making a tangible difference in the lives of her neighbors, ensuring they feel valued and supported every step of their healthcare journey.
Beyond her role at Godley Family Medicine, Joy extends her expertise as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Texas at Arlington FNP Program. Additionally, she continues to contribute her skills at John Peter Smith Urgent Care Center, reflecting her unwavering dedication to healthcare education and service to those in need.
Away from the clinic, Joy finds happiness in family life, celebrating 21 years of marriage and nurturing her 15-year-old daughter's dreams of college softball. With two teacup yorkies by her side, she embraces the adventure of travel, cherishing precious moments with her loved ones.
At Godley Family Medicine, Joy and her dedicated team stand ready to welcome you with open arms, ensuring that you feel at home and cared for every step of the way.
